This design used a TMS320C6711C floating point DSP, with VLIW architecture, for a real-time embedded closed loop controller. The design included FLASH, SDRAM and three Xilinx FPGA devices and 32 channels of serially controlled D/A and A/D converters for the real-time mechanical control loop. With multiple on-board DC-DC converters for a variety of IC core voltages including generation of 'quiet' analogue supplies this prototype board was 'right first time', significantly reducing effort and timescales for the Customer.
